If I had a dollar for every “New Year, New Me” post that I have seen on the internet over the past few weeks I’d be a few hundred dollars richer. Oh how I wish this was an exaggeration, but I believe deep down you know it’s true. And while I don’t write this message today to be a bearer of bad news, instead my desire is to point every person under the sound of my voice to truth, light and always back to Jesus.

The reality is, we can make all the goals, have all of the best intentions, but nothing and I do mean NOTHING will change until we make a DECISION to change. Now, your decision and my decision may look completely different. But at the root of it all requires two things that many of us lack.

Accountability

and Discipline

Come on, just reading those words aloud made you shake your head in agreement and clutch your pearls just a little. Am I right?

Can this be the year for a new you?

The healed you, whole you?

The you that will commit and keep your word to yourself?

Sure. I believe so.

But first…you must, decide.

Here are 3 tips to help you do so.

Before you start to write all of your 2024 goals in your brand new journal, do a fact check. This means take inventory of your unfinished goals from last year, and be honest with yourself on why those goals went unaccomplished.

Maybe I should have called this “Face The Mirror”, because that is exactly what fact checking will require you to do. Fact checking helps hold YOU accountable for your unfinished projects and unused gym membership. (Insert side eye)

Fact checking isn’t to bring shame, it is to bring discipline.

When you fail to assess the facts, then the facts will keep robbing you of being the finisher you are called to be.

So, when you think about it deeply, what are the FACTS that have kept you from finishing in the past?

After you have assessed, faced the mirror and completed your fact check…come out of agreement with it. That may look like coming out of agreement with, lack of focus, lack of discipline, laziness, procrastination, anxiety, rejection, fear, abandonment, and the abortion spirit.

Repent and ask God to stand back in his rightful position as God over your life. Find scripture to help support this moment of healing and deliverance for you. (Because that is exactly what this is)

Don’t skip this step and expect for your 2024 to be different than last year.

The new version of you deserves a chance to live freely outside of the open doors you have been conditioned too.

Now, I know that you have big goals, big dreams because you know you serve a big GOD! However, this time, instead of making a long list of things that overwhelm you, how about starting with 3? The goal is to be a FINISHER, not create a long a list of things that you may never see accomplished. What are the 3 intentional things you can get done this quarter? Now, create small goals for those things that you can accomplish each month, week, day etc…

The reality is your “facts” don’t have to follow you. But you must acknowledge and come out of agreement with anything and any vain imagination that doesn’t line up with what God has said and the assignment given to you.

So, could the New Year bring a New You?

Ultimately…that’s up to you. What will it be? #Choose
